You can not activate the cd version of FSX on Steam and download and play FSX. The code you have will only activate the boxed version of FSX if you install it from the cds. As Morag MacRae points out thubble9 the CD version of FSX is not related to the Steam Edition. You can not use your CD code to activate a copy of the game on Steam.
The code supplied with the CD version is for activating FSX not FSX:Steam Edition. If you own the boxed edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator X and you need help please contact Microsoft directly. Their primary support area for FSX is support.microsoft.com. I recently bought FSX Gold Edition (FSX Deluxe on 2 CD ROMS and FSX Accleration Pack on 1 CD ROM). Apart from confusion about having to install SP1 or not (FSX XP includes SP2 and SP2 requires SP1 to be installed), and apart from defragmenting the volume on which FSX is installed, I keep getting the following error messagw: 'We 're sorry, an unexpected error occurred which is preventing product activation from being completed, ERROR CODE 1-8004005.' The installation has succeeded but lacking proper activation you are constrained to a lousy half an hour to do your job. To make things worse, the activation of FSX Deluxe is lost until you uninstall the FSX Acceleration Pack again. In view of the numerous discussions about this topic ont the Internet, I suspect that something is terribly wrong with this FSX Acceleration Pack.
